Introducing the Friends of Maldon School. An invaluable association between parents, guardians and teachers.
An important part of school life
Maldon Court School is very fortunate to have a thriving Friends of Maldon Court Association (FOMCS), which is made up of a group of parents who organise fundraising and charitable events throughout the year.
The FOMCS committee is made up of volunteers (parents and family), and we are well supported by Mrs Guest, Mrs Mason and all staff.
We are a very active group, meeting once each half term for a committee meeting, where we discuss up-and-coming events, fundraising and any support that the school may require. Like most schools, we rely heavily on support, donations and new ideas from families at the school.
Everything is done to improve the children's time at the school
As a non-profit-making charitable trust, all the money we raise is for the benefit of the children. We organise fun events for the parents and children such as quizzes, treasure hunts, the Summer Fête and the Christmas Bazaar. These are always very popular and are enjoyed by everyone. Money raised from these events is used to fund Christmas parties and pantomime trips for the children. The FOMCS has also been able to contribute recently towards new playground equipment.
In addition, the FOMCS also collect donations of secondhand uniforms to sell in our secondhand uniform shop.
Typical events
Christmas Bazaar with Maldon Court’s own festive Santa’s Grotto and Mr Guest’s (in)famous mulled wine. Children design baubles to decorate the school’s Christmas tree, and there is a prize for the best bauble.
Summer Fête enjoyed by one and all, with seasonal favourites such as wet sponge throwing, a coconut shy, hoopla and hot dogs - and the parents can enjoy a refreshing glass of Pimms.
Monthly cake sales where each form takes a turn at making or supplying cakes which are sold after school.
Apron and tea towel sales - this year we made some very popular aprons and tea towels, which were decorated with the children’s fantastic self-portraits.
Pre loved uniform shop, open every Thursday after school, however uniform sales can be arranged for any time by contacting any member of the FOMCS committee.
Recent purchases
The fundraising events run by FOMCS have funded a number of items and trips for the school including:
Tablet cases, and tablet charging and storage stations.
100 chairs complete with storage trolley for the school hall.
A smart new gazebo in the school colours.
New gym mats for the sports hall.
Get involved
All parents or guardians of pupils at Maldon Court are automatically members of FOMCS - and if you would like to become more involved, you can contact your class rep or the FOMCS chairperson. If you don't have a child at the school but would like to help out, without being committed to attending FOMCS meetings, you can simply become a Friend of Maldon Court Preparatory School.
